For the Knights third game of the season we transitioned from t-ball to coach pitch. Owen has been playing coach pitch at Home Run Baseball Camp for a few years now, so he was pretty excited to finally be rid of the tee. The video is much shorter this week (right center is not quite as active as the pitcher spot he played last week, though he did make a couple nice plays out there), but Owen had a couple good hits, including one ripped down the third base line right by my spot coaching third base.

Knights Condensed Game
Owen is playing Single A T-ball this season on the Knights. For each game the kids on the Knights play one position in order to get used to the flow of the game. This is generally a good idea, but at least in the first couple weeks, whoever plays the 'pitcher' position ends up fielding at least 80% of the balls. This was good news for Owen in our second game of the season, and he had a blast playing pitcher. The above video is the whole "condensed game" (just like the Nats condensed games he watches every morning, but a little more self centered;-) His best play in the field was snagging a line drive (and making a perfect throw to first just in case). Looking good out there son!

Cheetah Princess
Once upon a time there was a Cheetah Princess named Nora. And she had a Cheetah King with her, and they didn't have a Queen or a Knight, so they decided to go on a little walk. And it was dark on their walk. So they went to the park, but the park was closed. So they went back home, but there was a spooky stranger there, so they couldn't get through. That's why they stayed at the park and looked at the shadows, but then they saw their Queen and their Knight saying, "Why did you take a little walk?" "Because, Nora wanted to go on an adventure." So they went back to the castle with the Queen and the Knight, and they lived happily ever after.

Radiology Conferences are the Best
We had a special treat this week. There happend to be a radiology conference in town, so Joe came down to stay with us for the week. He got to see the house, experience some of the offerings of H Street (including a delicious dinner at Toki Underground), see the kids, and have a great time hanging out if I do say so myself. Cate and the kids couldn't make it this trip, but hopefully we'll be seeing them all soon :-)

Opening Day
Opening Day finally arrived, brushing aside the painful memories of Game 5 with the hope and optimism of a new season. Owen and I dutifully took the afternoon off to take in the festivities and cheer on our beloved Washington Nationals, and Owen even kept score for the first time. Mom Mom and Grandpa Don joined us, and we all jumped for joy when Bryce Harper hit a home run in his first at bat of the season, cheered as Stephen Strasburg retired 19 straight Marlins, and smiled in disbelief at Harper's second home run in as many at bats. The Nats won (hopefully the first of many) and started out the 2013 baseball season right :-)

Easter 2013
It's been a crazy month, what with the move (March 8th), putting our old house on the market (March 20), getting that house under contract (March 26th) all while trying to settle into the new place. Due to the madness, we've let certain things slide: there's been a lot of eating out, bedtimes are a moving target and we only have few things on the walls.
We ended the month strongly, however, with our version of a traditional Easter.
We began with an Easter Egg hunt with Owen getting a Lego set we wouldn't let him open until later and Nora consuming a frightening amount of candy in a brief amount of time. This followed by our traditional Easter breakfast at our local bagel place because it's a block from the church that has the 10:30 am service (since we can't seem to make St. Peter's 9:00 am mass and the 11:00 am is too late). We cut out of church a little early and then headed up to Mom Mom and Grandpa Don's with Katherine, Lee, Makayla and Grandpa Fawcett for a second Easter Egg hunt where Owen got another Lego set we wouldn't let him open (so he carried it around most of the afternoon) and Nora ate even more candy. After some confused pipes thinking everything was supposed to rise after three days triggered an emergency visit from the WSSC (which caused Mom Mom a great deal of stress and Grandpa Fawcett a good deal of entertainment), we sat down to an amazing Easter dinner where even Nora put aside her assorted chocolates for seconds of the ham Mom Mom had shipped from Vermont.
It was a pretty awesome day -- so much so that Allen was asleep by 7:30 pm that night. Good thing he was taking off most of Easter Monday for opening day...
