It was just two weeks ago that Owen headed back to school following Easter dinner, so it seems kind of crazy that he is already home, having successfully completed his freshman year of college (technically he's still waiting on his Chemistry grade, but still...). Even crazier, Owen had the last possible final at St. Marys (7 pm on Monday May 5th), which meant that most of campus had already cleared out before he was even done. It also meant that when we arrived at 10 am on Tuesday morning, Owen had already packed, staged all his his stuff (having done his laundry the might before), and cleaned the room, so that it only took 30 minutes to load up the cars and take him home for the summer (it would have been even faster if one of the glass shelves in his refrigerator hadn't broken).
Once we arrived back and unloaded the cars, Allen and I went off to do some work while Owen reacquainted himself with his room. Fortunately, Allen only had to work for a few hours before he and Owen left to catch the last few innings of the first of a Nats-Guardians double header, which was fortunate as the first game ended with a come from behind National's victory while the second...didn't. And while that's probably not how Owen hoped the night would end, overall it was still a pretty good start to his summer.
